 | WQM
Accurate
data, unattended
WET Labs and Sea-Bird Electronics have
teamed to bring offshore research-grade measurement technology to
inshore and estuarine research and ocean observing applications.
The WQM's sensors have the accuracy and precision to track subtle
long-term changes in clean ocean environments. By combining multiple
active and passive anti-fouling features, the WQM assures this data
quality in coastal and inshore regimes. Extensively tested, field
trials have demonstrated the WQM's unprecedented long-term stability
in biologically rich coastal waters.
Built for extended deployment
Biofouling and sediment loads are the
dominant factors that degrade and limit the data quality from the
WQM's sensors, not their inherent stability. These factors can
overwhelm inadequately protected sensors and invalidate their
data—often in just a few days. The WQM employs active flow control,
passive flow prevention, light-blocking, active biocide injection and
passive inhibitors to effectively and safely combat internal and
external fouling. With fouling minimized, the superior inherent
stability of the WQM sensors translates directly to superior long-term
data quality.
Cost effective—now and later
The cost of monitoring is tied to the
instrument life cycle and real value is ultimately provided only
through quality data, day after day, month after month, year after
year. The WQM provides quality data while dramatically reducing the
need for field and factory service. The bottom line: the WQM delivers
unequalled long-term data quality and minimizes operational and
maintenance costs.

 | WetStar
Fluorometer
The WETStar fluorometer provides breakthrough performance for
detecting various types of fluorescence. It uses a central axial
optical tube to provide efficient signal output.
The meter has a unique flow tube design that lends itself to both
pump-through and flow-through operation. It's power input of 7–15 VDC
and 0–5 VDC analog output allow it to easily mate with existing CTD
packages.

Turbidity Meters (ECO Scattering Meters)
|
 | Eco BB
Single-angle Backscattering Meter
The ECO BB measures
scattering at 117 degrees, the angle determined as a minimum
convergence point for variations in the volume scattering function (VSF)
induced by suspended materials and water itself. As a result, the
signal measured by this meter is less determined by the type and size
of the materials in the water and is more directly correlated to the
concentration of the materials. Conversely, the meter provides
unparalleled accuracy for any single-angle measurement in determining
the optical backscattering coefficient: an important parameter for
remote sensing and in many in-water bio-optical applications.
|
|
 | Eco BB
2F
Combination Backscattering Meter and Fluorometer
The ECO BB2F
meter measures optical backscattering at 117 degrees at both 470 and
700 nm and chlorophyll fluorescence within the same
volume.
|
|
 | Eco
Triplet
Three-wavelength Backscattering Meter
Developed under the auspices of the
National Oceanographic Partnership Program, the ECO
Triplet provides optical backscattering measurements at 470,
532 and 660 nm in its standard configuration. Meters are available
with a centroid angle of scattering at 117 degrees.
|
|
 | Eco VSF
Three angle, Single-wavelength VSF
The ECO VSF
measures the optical scattering at three distinct angles: 100, 125,
and 150 degrees, thus providing the shape of the Volume Scattering
Function (VSF) throughout the backscattering region.
|
|
 | Eco
VSF3
Triple Wavelength, Triple Angle VSF
The ECO VSF3 measures
the optical scattering at three distinct angles: 100, 125, and 150
degrees, and at wavelengths of 470, 532, and 650 nm, thus providing
the shape of the Volume Scattering Function (VSF) throughout its
angular domain.

|
 | Eco BB9
Nine Wavelength Configurable Scattering Meter
The ECO BB-9
can be customized with any of the ECO line of optical configurations.
For example, scattering can be measured at seven wavelengths as well
as CDOM and chlorophyll fluorescence. Further customization is
possible by adding pressure and temperature sensors to provide a
stand-alone profiling tool.

Fluorometer & Turbidity

 | Eco
FLNTU
The ECO FLNTU is a
dual-wavelength, single-angle sensor for simultaneously determining
both chlorophyll fluorescence and turbidity.

Transmissiometers
|
 | C-Star
Transmissiometer
The C-Star incorporates a novel
monolithic housing with a highly integrated opto-electronic design to
provide a low cost, compact solution for underwater measurements of
beam transmittance. The instrument is capable of either free space
measurements, or through the use of an optical flow tube, flow-through
sampling with a pump. It can be used in profiling, moored, or underway
applications. C-Star’s analog output allows easy interfacing to a wide
variety of small battery-powered CTDs and loggers.
|
|
 | C-Rover
Transmissiometer
C-Rover is designed for
long-term deployment aboard profiling floats. It's near-neutral
buoyancy simplifies ballasting, and it is capable of being "parked" at
depth (2000 m). Similar to the C-Star, the Rover is lighter weight;
C-Star is more rugged and better suited to ship-based operations.

In Situ Spectrophotometers

ac-spectra
In-situ Spectrophotometer
Based on the highly successful ac-9, the
ac-spectra (ac-s) offers almost an order of magnitude increase in
spectral resolution of in-situ absorption and beam attenuation. The 4
nm resolution allows for spectral "fingerprinting" and deconvolution
analysis.
|
|
 | ac-9
Absorption and Attenuation Meter
The ac-9 simultaneously determines the
spectral transmittance and spectral absorption of water over nine
wavelengths. The unit offers compact size, high precision, and
excellent stability in providing a method for determining the
absorption and beam attenuation coefficients.
|
|
 | ac-9
plus
Absorption and Attenuation Meter +
The ac-9 Plus combines the power of the
standard ac-9 with the added capability of accepting and integrating
data from ancillary sensors, which is incorporated into the serial
(RS-232) data stream. WETView, our host data collection program,
records and displays the data from the ac-9 Plus in real-time. This
powerful new tool allows researchers to simultaneously collect the
data needed to describe inherent optical property measurements of
natural waters for effects such as salinity and temperature with one
integrated package. The ac-9 Plus is available in several standard
configurations:
ac-9 Plus +
CTD
ac-9 Plus +
ECO BB + CTD
ac-9 Plus +
CTD + ECO BB3.
It supports many popular CTDs including the SBE 19, 25, and 37, as
well as CTDs from other manufacturers. Upgrades are available for
existing ac-9 sensors.
