3plus Premium CTD Temperature Sensor
The superior performance of the SBE 3plus results from its
optimized electronic design, superior calibration, response
characterization, and quality testing program. The SBE 3plus is a
more rigorously tested and calibrated version of our SBE 3F temperature

demonstrating drift of less than 0.001 °C during a six-month screening
period. In addition, the time response is carefully measured and verified to
be 0.065 ± 0.010 seconds.

SBE-17plus V2 SEARAM
The SBE 17 plus V2 SEARAM is used to operate any SBE 9 plus
CTD underwater unit in self-contained internal recording mode, without
the need for conducting winch cable. Carousel Auto-Fire capability has
been added to the new Version 2 (V2) SEARAM. When the SEARAM is
integrated with an SBE 9 plus CTD and an SBE 32 Carousel Water
Sampler, users can collect water samples at preprogrammed depths and
record CTD data with one autonomous system. Auxiliary sensors
connected to the SBE 9 plus are also supported. CTD profile data and
separate bottle summary data are stored in memory, and can be quickly
uploaded to a computer without opening the SEARAM.

18 pH Sensor
Uses a pressure-balanced glass-electrode /Ag/AgCl-reference pH
probe to provide in-situ measurements at depths up to 1,200 meters.
The replaceable pH probe is permanently sealed and is supplied with a soaker

SBE-19plus
SeaCAT Profiler
4 HZ pumped CTD with TC-duct and up to 4 optional
auxiliary sensors
Can be operated without a computer from even the smallest boat, with
field data recorded in internal memory and processed later on your
PC, or data can be transmitted in real time over 7,000 meter,
single-core, armored cables directly to your computer’s serial port.
The fast sampling and pump-controlled TC-ducted flow configuration
significantly reduces salinity spiking caused by ship heave, and
allows slower descent rates for improved resolution of water column
features. Auxiliary sensors for dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity,
fluorescence, PAR, and ORP can also be added, and for moored
deployments it can be set to time-series mode using software
commands.

the user's computer. The junction box provides sensor power and an
isolated data interface, and contains a NMEA 0183 port for appending
GPS navigation information to the data stream. Salinity, density,
sound velocity, and other variables may be computed, tabulated, and
plotted using the software supplied.

Carousel Water Sampler
An innovative design free of the
reliability problems associated with motor-driven
types. The Carousel has no moving-shaft seals that can bind up at low temperatures or under pressure because each bottle position has its own
magnetically-activated lanyard release latch. Only the
magnetic field, not a moving part,
links the Carousel's lanyard release mechanism with the
pylon control electronics.
|
|
 | SBE 33 Carousel
Deck Unit
For stand-alone Carousel use (without a CTD), the Deck Unit provides power and real-time
control to the water sampler. When used with a CTD
other than the 911plus, it also provides a
real-time data telemetry link and power for the CTD and
auxiliary instruments. Two optional interfaces can be
added to the SBE 33; a NMEA 0183 interface to allow GPS position data to be appended to Sea-Bird
CTD
data, and an auxiliary A/D channel to interface a
surface PAR sensor.

35 Deep Ocean Standards Thermometer
A laboratory standards thermometer with the unique ability to be
used both in fixed point cells and at depths up to 6,800 meters. It is
unaffected by shock and vibration encountered in shipboard and industrial
environments, making it ideal for use in calibration laboratories in the
range of -5 to +35° C, and in the thermodynamic method of measuring hydro
turbine efficiency.

|
 | SBE 36 CTD Deck
Unit
The SBE 36 provides surface power and two-way communication for self-contained Sea-Bird
CTDs
(e.g., SBE 19 or 25), allowing users to operate with
typical single- or multi-conductor sea cables. The SBE
36 has ample power available for auxiliary sensors that
may not otherwise be supportable by battery-powered CTDs. The SBE 36 also includes a NMEA 0183
interface that permits GPS time and position data to be
merged with the CTD data. One A/D input channel for use
with a surface reference PAR sensor (QSP-240R) is
optional.

38 Digital Oceanographic Thermometer
New A/D acquisition electronics, ultra-stable
thermistor, and state-of-the-art calibration provide the standards-level
performance of an expensive AC bridge and platinum thermometer at a small
fraction of the cost. The SBE 38 Digital Oceanographic Thermometer is not
affected by shock and vibration, has high accuracy and stability, has a
rugged corrosion-proof 10,500 meter titanium pressure housing, and is easy
to use. Real-time temperature data is transmitted in ASCII characters (in °C)
via RS-232 or RS-485 standard serial interface for display or logging by PC
or data logger.
Absolute accuracy is better than 0.001 °C (1
mK) and resolution is approximately 0.00025 °C
(0.25 mK). Each sensor includes certification which demonstrates drift of
less than 0.001 °C during a six month period.

High-accuracy temperature (pressure optional) recorder
with internal battery and non-volatile memory for deployment at
depths up to 10,500 meters. Intended for moorings or other

deployments on nets, towed vehicles, or ROVs. Calibration
coefficients are stored in EEPROM, and uploaded data is in ASCII
engineering units (°C and decibars).

43 Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Sensor
Sets a new oxygen measurement standard for oceanographic
research. The new sensor is a Clark polarographic membrane type in which
careful choices of materials, geometry, and sensor chemistry are combined
with superior electronics interfacing and calibration methodology to yield
major gains in performance.
Calibration stability is improved by an order of magnitude; the new sensor
holds calibration in shipment and requires less frequent calibration.
Temperature response and corrections are dramatically improved. The largest
source of error in profiling applications is nearly eliminated, and the
equilibration ‘wait time’ at the beginning of a profile is reduced to
seconds. Profiling accuracy in gradients is dramatically improved.
Pressure hysteresis is largely eliminated in the upper ocean (1,000 meters).
Oxygen features are more precisely resolved, and the agreement in
down-and-up profiles reduces the ambiguity.

 | SBE 44 Underwater Inductive Modem
(UIM)
Makes it possible to integrate ADCPs or other instruments having
standard serial interfaces with MicroCATs or other instruments that
communicate via Sea-Bird’s inductive modem telemetry system. The UIM has a
built-in inductive cable coupler (split toroid) and cable clamp, providing
data communications without the need for electrical connections, and an easy
and secure attachment to any point on a jacketed mooring wire. An underwater
bulkhead connector on the end cap provides the serial data connection, a
control line, and switched power out.

flow to minimize salinity spiking.

ECO
Water Sampler
The ECO is the ideal small-boat water sampler for
coastal, estuarine, and large lake ecological monitoring. The ECO is
light and economical and can be integrated with an SBE 19, 19plus,
or 25 CTD. It is available in a three-bottle or six-bottle
configuration with 4-lite r ECO sample
bottles, uniquely designed for the ECO. The ECO can operate
autonomously on internal batteries and be programmed to close
bottles at selected depths, allowing deployment using non-electrical
wire or line. It also can be used with an SBE 33 Carousel Deck Unit
for real-time CTD data acquisition and water sampling. Real-time
operation requires an electro-mechanical cable and slip-ring
equipped winch.
|
|

underwater inductive modem instruments and the computer or buoy controller.
Communication with the computer/buoy controller is via RS-232 (optional
RS-485).
